NOVOTEST Hardness Test Blocks (Leeb, Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers, Shore)
Hardness test blocks are reference pieces with a known, certified hardness. You test on the block to confirm your hardness tester reads correctly, or to calibrate it, before and after a job or as part of a regular check. NOVOTEST makes blocks for Leeb, Rockwell, Brinell, Vickers and Shore testers, each supplied with a test certificate.
Leeb blocks (HLD, with HLG on request) are carbon or alloy steel with factory indentation prints and an identification number on the side, and come in three levels: 530, 630 and 790 HLD. Rockwell blocks are in carbon steel (25, 45 and 65 HRC, 83 HRA and 90 HRB, with brass and aluminium blocks also made), to ASTM E18. Brinell blocks come in 100, 200, 300, 400 and 600 HB to ASTM E10, and Vickers blocks in 200, 450 and 800 HV at a range of loads, to ASTM E92.
Shore blocks for checking durometers come as colour-coded sets: six Type A blocks (30 to 80 HA) or three Type D blocks (20, 40 and 80 HD), to ISO 868 and ISO 7619-1. Choose the block below and tell us anything else you need in the notes, such as the Vickers test load.
