NOVOTEST UT-3M-EMA EMAT Thickness Gauge

The NOVOTEST UT-3M-EMA measures metal thickness using electromagnetic-acoustic (EMA) technology, which removes several limits of conventional ultrasonic gauging. Because the ultrasound is generated directly in the material, no couplant is needed, and measurements can be made through a coating or an air gap of up to 6 mm.

This means thickness can be measured through paint, oxidation or oil without preparing the surface, on both ferromagnetic and paramagnetic materials, with less material waste and labour. The probes can be used on surfaces heated to as much as 600°C, which makes the gauge the best, and in some cases the only, practical solution for hot components. Wall thickness from 0.5 mm to over 200 mm can be measured, depending on the probe.

The gauge analyses the signals automatically, selects the measurement method and adjusts its parameters, and offers A-scan, B-scan, Peak-Peak, Front and Echo displays. The electronics are in a lightweight metal case (IP65 version available) with a lithium-ion battery that runs for over 8 hours.
